‘Creating D a r k V e l v e t’
Recording ‘D a r k V e l v e t’
Three long days, eight composers holding a mirror in front of me, ten pieces with every emotion you can think off and a fantastic crew of people who did their absolute best!! My dearest Reineke Broekhans who I blindly trust with every note, amazing Maja Bogdanovic who I am thrilled to have met in this way. Guido Tichelman and Lilita Dunska, what an honour to have placed my heart into your ears!!!
‘Finding the Crowd’
The time has come and the count down till the start of the recording on the 17th of March is begun.
Until then, one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking processes has to happen: CROWDFUNDING. It is not easy but really necessary to make this project possible.
On Bruci and ‘Guslarska’ with a dear guest Ana Maria
In this episode, I wish to share a talk with a special guest, the granddaughter of Maestro Rudolf Bruci and his solo violin piece 'Guslarska' which will be on the CD 'D a r k V e l v e t'. Rudolf Bruci, the founding father of musical life and all its main institutions of Novi Sad, Including The Academy of Arts where I graduated violin, was a winner of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in 1956 with his symphony Lesta. One day in 1993, he left me honoured with a wonderful unexpected present 'Guslarska', a solo violin piece which he wrote for me.
‘A Song for Isidora’ by Calliope Tsoupaki
In this episode, I wish to share with you my experience involving two of the composers whose music will be on the CD 'D a r k V e l v e t ' - Isidora Zebeljan and Calliope Tsoupaki. Featured in this episode is the piece for a monodic instrument by Calliope Tsoupaki: 'A Song for Isidora' that got connected to a story 'Isidora' and found its inseparable way to become one after an experience of a dream.
A talk with Felipe - ‘Jaquetalk’
Creating ‘D a r k V e l v e t’ | A talk with Felipe - ‘Jaquetalk’
In this episode, Felipe Waller and I are having a talk about the piece he wrote for me 24 years ago when we were both students at the Rotterdams Conservatory. The piece is inspired by a beautiful Mexican love song Deja Que Salga la Luna. Watch the video to get an insight into how it became De Jaque, Sal, Gala, Luna.
Creating ‘DarkVelvet’ - Welcome
The puzzle of my new CD is falling together beautifully and I am very happy to unravel it little by little to you in these videos. I will let you see the process of relearning the old pieces, learning to sing a separate part on top of my playing, learning the new pieces and will also take you along the journey of the three new pieces being written right now especially for this CD.
