Muziek bij Rembrandt thuis

Muziek bij Rembrandt thuis

Splendor&Museum Rembrandthuis

Splendor and the Museum Rembrandthuis join forces for a concert series in which musicians draw inspiration from the artworks in the museum. Rembrandt lived in Amsterdam’s most creative street, the Jodenbreestraat. Not only did a large number of painters live in close proximity, but the neighbourhood also had a rich musical life. Carillons rang out daily from church towers, while organists performed public concerts in churches. Music lovers and musicians made their homes here, and violin makers crafted their instruments in the neighbourhood. There was also an exchange between painting and music: music inspired artists to create their paintings, while painters immortalised musicians in their works.Splendor and the Museum Rembrandthuis bring this seventeenth-century dialogue between art and music back to life. In a series of exclusive concerts, musicians from the Splendor collective respond to the artworks in Rembrandt’s house. The programme features music that Rembrandt himself may have heard, alongside new compositions inspired by the museum’s collection. Let yourself be carried away by the sounds of past and present, in Rembrandt’s own home.

Featuring: Emine Bostancı – kemenche, Jan Willem Baljet – baritone, Akim Moiseenkov – voice and electronics, Julija Hartig – violin and Jonatan Alvarado – voice. Your ticket includes access to the museum from 16:00. The concert starts at 17:00 at the Museum Rembrandthuis. After the concert, the bar at Splendor will be open!
